Why Fashion?
What is the answer to that question? If I told you that there would be one universal answer to this question, that you would not have to search for other answers to it, you probably would not believe me.
But then why is fashion important?
Fashion is more than just wearing expensive designer clothes, taking the most expensive jewelry and doing up with the best facial makeup. No doubt all these things are important. Fashion is more than what you wear for the sake of wearing. It is also about feeling good about yourself, being confident in yourself and making your own unique statement. As an expression of yourself, the way you carry yourself, and the elegance and grace involved in creating you that unique you play a very important part in defining fashion for you. A piece of clothing may be fashionable today, but in six months time that piece of clothing could well be considered trash because it fails to convey the message that you wish to get across to others.
To better understand why fashion is important to let us take a closer look at what it actually is. Fashion is not really a ‘fashion sense’, it is more of a ‘conscious awareness’ about what you wear. In other words, there is no such thing as a ‘rule’ about what kind of clothes a person wears. In fact clothes can say so much about a person, and about a person’s personality that what they wear does not necessarily have any bearing at all on their personality or character. A good example would be a person wearing clothes that say, “She’s outgoing, intelligent, and she is fun to be with.”
Fashion is all about the way you wear your clothes, and how you choose to wear them. The purpose of clothes is to first impression, and it is this first impression that has a major impact on how someone feels about yourself. You want people to first notice the good parts of you, and then focus their attention on the things that make you unique or different from everyone else.
Fashion has traditionally been seen as a female realm, where the only ones who fit into this realm are women who wear clothes that are covered up, such as in saunter pants, long dresses, and other formal attire. However, today young boys, and even sometimes young girls are beginning to exhibit a greater interest in fashion. Why fashion is important for a boy, is because they will be able to learn more about expressing themselves through the clothes they choose to wear, as opposed to just wearing clothes that are culturally standard for women.
Boys also find out who they really are in this respect. When boys begin to take interest in fashion, it teaches them that they can also have fun with colors and patterns, while also letting them know that they have a lot of options when it comes to what they can wear. Why is fashion important for a child? It lets them see that they don’t have to conform to what society says they should look like and helps them to show how individual they can be.
